Faunal Collection
Comparative Faunal Collection
The zooarchaeology comparative collection consists of faunal material from throughout the Southeast, including the skeletal remains of about 450 individual mammals, birds, fish and reptiles. The collection is regularly used for the identification and analysis of archaeological animal bone, and as a teaching aid for classes in anthropology and forensics.
In addition to our basic CRM services, we can also complete zooarchaeological analyses for most prehistoric and historic assemblages in the region. For more information, or to inquire about contractual work, please contact Mr. Derek Anderson, dta49@msstate.edu.
